MEDICARE 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Join us as we celebrate Medicare, our nation's largest and most successful health insurance system serving the healthcare needs of almost 50 million older and disabled Americans. Medicare has been the most financially efficient health care system in the United States with administrative costs averaging only 2 percent of program outlays.

But, Republican budget proposals are attacking Medicare, proposing to raise eligibility to age 67 and turn Medicare into a voucher program, endangering eveyone's health and financial security.

We need to stop them. A vigorous defense of Medicare is needed so that President Obama will veto any privatization of Medicare. Thursday, July 30th is the National Day of Action to say "Medicare is as American as Apple P.I.E." - we must Protect, Improve and Expand it!

Here in Northern California, July 30th will be a celebration and rally at 11:00am at Frank Ogawa Plaza, then a march and rally at the Federal Building in Oakland, CA.
